I Tried To Do Something New

I replaced the glove compartment lock assembly in my van by myself! I ordered the part and researched how to replace it. When I unwrapped the new assembly I was shocked because it didn’t come with a lock cylinder. Which meant I had to take the old lock cylinder out and put it in the new lock assembly. After a little more research, I did that too!

When it came to installing the assembly I did have some difficulty with aligning it up so the screws fit right. I thought I would have to get some washers or take it to a mechanic for help. That would have been ok, but my gut was telling me to keep trying. So, I did. I got the assembly aligned up correctly and, with a little elbow grease, screwed it in.

I’m not a mechanic, but I gave it a try. I’m sharing this because it shows how the only limitations we have are the ones we think we have.

I had my music on shuffle as I worked and “Get Out of Your Own Way” by U2 came on. It was a fitting song for this job. Where do you need to get out of your own way in your life?
